Fine Art Puzzles of Religious Themes

For the puzzle enthusiast there is nothing more satisfying than completing an intricate classic wooden jigsaw puzzle featuring a piece of fine artwork by a famous artist. The best known Renaissance artists painted primarily religious themes. The familiar scenes of the Nativity of Jesus and the Last Judgement rendered by the artistic greats such as Fra. Angelico and Michaelangelo as well as scenes from the life of Buddha reproduced from wall paintings in India make detailed religious puzzles that will challenge even a puzzle aficionado. An additional feature of the best fine art jigsaw puzzles is the inclusion of figural pieces known as whimsy pieces. These are specially designed pieces that have been cut in the shapes of recognizable animals or people. This type of piece was often used in puzzles that date back to the 19th century, but they virtually disappeared when cardboard puzzles became prevalent. Whimsy pieces are making a come-back in finely crafted wooden puzzles of all sorts, and they add an unexpected element of surprise to the puzzler’s experience.
